Ba Le has the best selection and ingredients for bahn mi in the city.
Bahn mi can be judged on Four elements: bread(perfect toasting), assembly(great proportions) pate, and chicken sauce. They win in philly. hands down.
Between their baked goods, prepared foods, and nipple-steeling ice coffee, there's no comparison -

I've been going to Ba Le on and off for the past couple years. I stopped going due decrease of quality but recently it has been consistently good. Ba Le always had the best bread.
Their goi cuon and pork spring rolls are my go to side orders. They have plenty of authentic Viet food on display that is ready as well.
They also seem to be super packed on the weekends, so plan accordingly! -

If you're asian who lives in Philly.. chances are you have had the hoagies at Ba Le.
I must say their prices have gone up tremendously in the past years, but the quality of their food have also gone up.
All their hoagies are well made and the bread is fresh, my favorite is the combo and i also love their summer shrimp and pork rolls. Their thai tea is also one of the best! -

I really enjoyed this lunch that I had! The banh mi was on the perfect roll with just enough jalapeños, bbq pork, greens, vegetables, and flavor to fill me up with an order of pork spring rolls. I often find that Vietnamese places pick the wrong roll for banh mi but this one was ideal and held together to keep the plethora of toppings wrapped up inside while being a great soft texture. The spring rolls were fresh, packed with flavor and juicy enough to complement the light, fresh sandwich. I ordered delivery from here, but I will need to stop in soon and see what else this place has to offer. This has quickly become my favorite vietnamese place!

After living in South Philly for 2 years, I finally tried one of their banh mi sandwiches. Wholly cow was it delicious! Served on warm bread that is both crunchy and soft. Can't wait to go back for seconds!
